“The future depends on what you do today.”
Exiled from normality, distanced from our friends and careers put on a hiatus.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it a surge of uncertainty and with everyday our hopes of returning to our uniform way of life diminishes.
In light of current events, students and tutors from music college - ICMP London - have come together to share a message of hope with the world.
Our message is to be directed at the youths of today's society, those whose futures appear unattainable at the hand of coronavirus, racism and poverty.
It is the wish of everyone involved to keep the fire of creativity burning within the young minds of today so that they may have the opportunity to flourish and establish themselves in a new world, with a new light.
Our ambition aligns with the goals and aspirations of UNICEF, thus, the proceeds will be donated in aid of the charity as we believe that “every child has the right to grow up in a safe and inclusive environment”.
The essence of this collaboration is told by vocalists of ICMP London through the lyrics of “The Circle of Life” by Elton John.
Accompanied by the unique styles of each instrumentalist, we have created a new and exciting arrangement which is emotional and empowering.
This collaboration has been structured to communicate the power of hope and to guide those who have lost their way during this extraordinary time.
“I found myself in a corner of uncertainty and frustration upon returning home from London and in recent days.
I quickly observed that I was not alone in my confusion and that most young personnel had developed an element of paralysis during these unprecedented times.
This inspired the concept of a creation which might bring my peers together in an effort to give rather than take, to produce rather than consume.
As ideas developed, I endeavoured to take this message of hope outside of my social circle and so the concept matured into a fundraiser.
UNICEF believes that “every child has the right to survive and thrive”, I believe that we, the youth are the keys to a bright future and it is our responsibility to help those who are disadvantaged.
It is my hope that this project will have a positive impact on a youth living through this time of ambiguity and that they may find purpose and strength through the efforts achieved by UNICEF or through their relation with the chosen song, that they may
comprehend the connotation of the lyrics as I did upon seeing humanity pull together over the past few months.” - Evin Durkin (Director)
